Socrates
This ardent seeker of the truth
Accused of misleading the youth
The hemlock he drank fearlessly
Innocent blood spilt mercilessly
Wisdom while walking he taught
Ignorance with valour he fought
Incisive dialogue his discourse
Yet no book did he compose
Known through Plato’n Xenophon
Unique ’n eerie this phenomenon
Not much detail’n not much fuss
His philosophy is summed up thus:
Human beings are innately guided
Basic awareness they are provided
No one does wrong intentionally
Ignorance is its reason actually
“Know thyself” – his earnest call
If you want to achieve after all
To know what we can’t know
Is the wisdom we need to know
