Muhammad Iqbal
This poet of the East stands tall
People were revived by his call
With the dismal present tainted
Their past grandeur he painted
Rich in style; steeped in tradition
Inspiration exudes in lofty rendition
Grandeur in words depth in thought
A treasure of wisdom to us he taught
Mystic, polymath and polyglot
Critical thinking owes him a lot
The fire for freedom he ignited
For his erudition he was knighted
Rumi was his spiritual guide
To Goethe in detail he replied
Mir Hassan taught him so well
And Arnold had no parallel
Khudi was his master stroke
Yoke of slavery with it he broke
Pakistan was his cherished dream
This vision finally reigned supreme
